This is JOSIE,

Josie is an absolutely adorable Border Collie puppy who needs to find her forever home. She may be starting to resolve the ME, but only time and an experienced ME home will know how to carefully and slowly see if she can go into full remission.

This kind owner has offered to fully cover flying her to any major airport in the US (wherever Delta goes) at no cost to the new home so contact them directly if you are interested in giving Josie her forever loving, safe, ME managed home and they will handle their due diligence.

  • Current age: 10 weeks old Current weight: 6 lbs
  • Dogs Current Status: With owner Location: Carrollton, GA

Timeframe needed to find a home: Want the right home

Medical information (spay/neuter, chipped, other health conditions if any, etc):

Healthy except for the ME

Where and how did we get this dog:
“Josie is one out of a litter of puppies we recently had.  We sold her to a family who noticed that she was making strange gurgling noises.  Their vet x-rayed Josie and diagnosed her with ME. We subsequently took Josie back.  We have five other dogs and between work and kids, we’re afraid that we won’t be able to devote the time necessary to give Josie the care she needs.  We are under no time constraints to re-home her, but we would like to re-home her soon with someone who can commit to her care. However, in the event we are unable to find her a new home, we will keep her and do the best we can (in other words, we will not put her down).”

Where and how ME was diagnosed:

Animal hospital (give name if known): Diagnosed by vet of persons who bought her

X-rays or barium study: X-rays

Meds currently taken: None

Fed how many times per day in what position and timeframe:

  • Currently feeding small amounts of canned food
  • Eats 3 to 4 times per day
  • Uses a raised platform
  • Held upright while the food passes
  • Seems to be working; has only regurged food a few times

Exercise preferred (if any) and level (high, moderate, low): Very active puppy

  • Plays with all the other dogs (3 adult Border Collies, 1 English Pointer, and 2 of Josie’s litter mates)
  • Doesn’t seem too concerned with cats
  • Spends a lot of time with her humans, both inside and outside, so she is being well socialized
  • Like most puppies she has an occasional accident in the house, in the process of potty training
  • Not trying to crate-train Josie since the dogs have their own heated and cooled sunroom with beds (yes, our dogs are spoiled rotten)
  • Has recently taken a liking to the water and has been enjoying our swimming pool

Additional notes (any other pertinent information that will help you decide if you might be the safe, loving forever home):

“Upon finding a new home for Josie, we are willing to fly her to any major airport in the continental United States (that Delta flies into) at no cost to the new owner.”
