This is PENNY

Penny is an absolutely adorable Chihuahua mix (think dachshund) who really needs to find a forever home that can love her likes she loves everyone and everything!!! This kind “owner” saved her off the streets where she had been a long time. Took time to catch her and they do not have the time or expertise to manage her ME. They have not only saved this precious life BUT have done everything in getting her well managed. Penny needs to find a forever home where this tiny girl can be loved and cared for forever.

Where and how did we get this dog:

“She was running loose in my neighborhood for what I know 2-3 weeks literally living and eating on a pile of garbage. She was too frightened to come to anyone. Finally on September 27th 2018, I borrowed a live raccoon trap and was able to bring her home. She was underweight, flea infested and filthy so I immediately took her to vet. She’s not been chipped or spayed. Put her on flea meds immediately and gave her a bath. She could use deep cleaning on her teeth.

After 4 weeks of trying to get her on good diet and all she continued to regurg after eating or treats and I noticed she had a little gurgling sound in her throat so we returned to vet. He did a barium swallow took X-rays and had us return next morning for one more X-ray and it showed barium still in esophagus and was diagnosed with ME.”

Where and how was ME diagnosed:

Animal hospital: Independence Animal Hospital / Independence, MO

Additional notes (any other pertinent information that will help you decide if you might be the safe, loving forever home):

“She loves to snuggle and be held, lets me put her coats and sweaters on her, loves to be wrapped in blanket, great in the car, loves to lay in the sun, great with other pets..gets a little anxious at feeding time because she’s hungry! Everywhere we go people want to hold or pet her because she’s so darn cute. She’s a precious, sweet fur baby and whoever gets her will love her so much as long as they understand the time and patience needed and can give that to her.”
